Apple recently introduced all new Apple Watch series 6 in nearby same price as last year’s Apple Watch series 5. So here is the competition between both the watches whether you should upgrade to Apple Watch series 6 or not. Let’s start with the similarities of Apple Watch series 6 and series 5 because there are lots of similar features in both the watches. In terms of design wise Apple watch series 5 and series 6 are exactly same. All the ports, sizes, materials and other buttons are exactly similar in both the watches. In terms of display also both are similar as both have a maximum capacity of 1000 nits brightness. Speaker loudness and microphone quality are also exactly similar.


Both the watches are resistant to water upto 50 meters and you can swim while wearing both the watches. Storage options are also same of 32GB in both. Both watches support Bluetooth 5.0. And comes with choice of GPS + Cellular version. Other sensors like ECG, heart rhythm monitoring sensor, fall detection etc, are also included in both.


Now talking about differences, the biggest difference is the colour options available in Apple Watch Series 6. Compared to series 5, series 6 is available with 2 more colours that are Blue and PRODUCT RED. Other regular colours are available in Series 6 same as Series 5. The other major difference is of chipset. Series 5 comes with S5 chipset and series 6 comes with S6 chipset. When talking about speed there is no notable difference as both the chipsets are highly efficient. But Apple says that S6 chipset supports upto 2x more brighter display than series 5 watch.

 

Series 6 comes with the U1 chipset that is also available in iPhone 11 lineup. This is Ultrawide band chipset which is currently of no use. But we could see its usage if Apple launches it’s Apple AirTags. Apple Watch series 6 watch supports 5 GHz Wifi band.


Another major health update in Apple watch series 6 is blood oxygen level monitoring meter. Which is currently not available in India and many other countries but will start soon. Another lady difference is support of Altimeter. You can monitor altitude when you go for trekking or climbing up hills.



Another thing is pricing. Now the price of the base model of series 6 in India is around ₹40,900 that is 40mm and only GPS. And if you want to buy 44mm with GPS + Cellular it costs around ₹52,900. Now if we compare it with series 5 price than it is expected that its price will be dropped. So as such there is no major update from series 5 to series 6 we can go for series 5 watch.
